Senate Guards

Senate Guards (or "Blue Guards") are fictional characters in the Star Wars universe. They are similar to Emperor's Royal Guards in almost every aspect and many of the Senate Guards went on to become Imperial Guards.
Senate Guards are not as well trained as the later Imperial Royal Guards ("red guards"), and are taught one form of martial art known as Hijkata, given extensive blaster training, and taught to use a blaster pike, which resembles a purple lightsaber on a staff. They guard the Senate whilst in session and when none of the Senators' own guards are present. They are seen in the first, second and third films.
When Palpatine created the Galactic Empire, the Senate Guards' role was steadily marginalized and they were eventually replaced by the Imperial Guards. In Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the plume on the senate guard's helmet was removed, and a dark visor was added.
