Semyon Denisovich Ignatiev (1904 - 1983)

He replaced Viktor Abakumov as the Minister of the MGB in 1951 and was the leader until 5 March 1953, when Lavrenti Beria absorbed the MGB into his MVD. Ignatiev served as second secretary of the Byelorussian and Uzbek Central Committees (1946-1949) before becoming MGB chief.
