Sempra Energy

Sempra Energy NYSE: SRE is a San Diego, California-based energy services holding company that was founded in 1998. Sempra owns the Southern California Gas Company, San Diego Gas & Electric, Sempra Commodities, and Sempra Generation.
Sempra, a member of the S&P 500, employs over 13,000 people and has a market capitalization of over $12 billion USD (Feb. 2005). The company sells natural gas to over 19 million people, and electricity to over 3 million.

Sempra Energy was created through the 1998 merger of Los Angeles-based Pacific Enterprises, the parent company of Southern California Gas, and Enova Corporation, the parent company of San Diego Gas & Electric.
