Semi-classical music

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Semi-classical music (or in Urdu: نیم کلاسیکی موسیقی; neem klaseeki moseeqi) is a kind of light music in Pakistan. It was derived from Pakistan's pure classical music combined with Pakistani filmi music and was specifically created for TV viewers. This generally refers to the music produced by Pakistan Television from 1964 (its establishment) to late 1980's. Although, this music is still produced but it is not as frequent.

Pakistani pop music, despite starting as completely westernized music, has been heavily influenced by semi-classical by the passage of time.
