[edit] Plot

"The Starbeasts: They are mysterious animals who fight for the sake of defending harmony in the Milky Way!"

3,000 years ago, the Barban space pirates invaded Earth. The Seijuu and the first Gingaman, warriors of the Ginga forest, fought them with the mystical power called Earth and eventually were able to imprison them. Subsequently, the Ginga people cloaked their forest within marked boundaries and passed on the duty of Ginga warriors through generations.

Hyuuga, Hayate, Gouki, Hikaru and Saya are chosen as the 133rd warriors of the Star Beast Swords. Ryouma is very happy that his elder brother Hyuuga succeeds to the honorable title. When Elder Ohghi holds the succession ceremony of Star Beast Swords, an earthquake breaks the seal of Barban.

Orghi orders the 133rd warriors to get the GingaBraces hidden in Roaring Mountain. However, the Barban attacks them to prevent the birth of the new Gingamen. During the battle, Hyuuga got swallowed into a crack in the ground which Captain Zahab of the Barban created. Becoming enraged, Ryouma activates his hidden Earth and awaken the GingaBraces. The Gingamen fight together with the Starbeasts against the Barban, who desire to revive the Demon Beast, Daitanix, on whose 'corpse' they built their castle.

He sought revenge for his young brother Krantz, who fell victim of Barban's attack on their home planet, Taurus. His original goal was to find Lights of Ginga, so he could take revenge on Zahab. But his means were very selfish, as he didn't care about hurting innocent civilians in order to reach his goal, unlike the Gingamen. But later it was revealed that he had fell millennia ago in the same abyss as Hyuuga, and that BullBlack had used the man's body to escape the abyss and fight again. This revelation came up when Hyuuga began stopping him from using techniques that would hurt innocent civilians. After Krantz's spirit begged him to stop hurting people, BullBlack released Hyuuga and gave up his own life in order to save the Gingamen from a hate energy explosion. His spirit found peace after reuniting with Krantz. Later, they appeared (as spirits) to inherit Hyuuga with BullBlack's powers by giving him the BullRiot Sword.

  • Elder Orghi (1-2, 50): Elder Orghi is the leader of the Ginga people. When the Ginga Forest is attacked by Shelinda to use its energy to revive Ditanix, Orghi casts a petrification spell on himself and everything in the forest to prevent her from sucking the energy. Before becoming fully petrified, Orghi leaves a pendant with a seed to the Gingamen. In the finale after Zahab's death, the Ginga Forest resurfaces and Orghi as well as the rest of the Ginga people are restored much to the surprise of the Gingamen.
  • Moak, the Wisdom Tree (3-48, 50): Moak is Orghi's final gift to the Gingamen before he is fully turned to stone. Moak senses all the events that happen near any forest or wood, such as Barban's presence. He is the one who gives new weapons to the Gingaman. He also has knowledge of all Ginga legends. Near the finale, he sacrificed himself to prevent the birth of the Earth Beast, but left behind a seed. After the Ginga Forest was restored in the finale, Moak was revived when Orghi planted his seed.

Later when the Gingaman receive the power of the Lights of the Ginga, it enables Gingaioh to become Super Armor Shine Gingaioh when the command "Super Armor Shine Gingaioh!" is given. This is where Gingaioh receives an armored chestplate and the Silver Armor Sword's power is enhanced. Its attacks are Shooting Star Bullet and Galaxy Beast King Cut (Gingajūoh Giri). Gingaioh's power helped to power up GaoKing in Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai.

  • Steel Starbeasts (鋼星獣 Kōseijū): Formerly Starbeasts GigaRhinos, GigaPhoenix, and GigaBitus, their worlds were destroyed by the Barban long ago. They were converted into cyborgs by Biznella under his control when they were rendered dormant. After recharging them with the Galaxy Lights, Beesnella set them against the Gingamen. The fact they were Starbeasts made Super Armor Shine Gingaioh and Bull Taurus reluctant to fight them. However, the Steel Starbeasts were freed from their programing by the brotherhood of their fellow Starbeasts. They then destroyed Biznella. They aided the Gingamen in many of their battles. However, in the Gingaman vs. Megaranger special, GigaRhinos and GigaPhoenix die after fighting Daitanix II. What happens to GigaBitus is unknown.

Transforms from Cruiser Mode to Scramble Mode, armed with the Bitus Cannon.

[edit] Space Pirates Barban

The Space Pirates Barban (宇宙海賊バルバン Uchū Kaizoku Baruban) are group of pirates who have destroyed many planets along the Milky Way. They have their headquarters, the Brutal Inivicible Castle (Arakure Mutekijou), mounted on the back of Daitanix. They once tried to invade Earth but the first generation of Gingaman and the Starbeasts sealed them in the bottom of the sea. 3,000 years later, an earthquake broke the seal and Barban was released, with plans of awakening Daitanix in our time. Its four great armies plot various strategies in order to achieve it.

  • Captain Zahab (Senchō Zeihabu): Leader of Barban. Cruel and violent but at the same time a great leader and strategist. His appearance resembles a mix of a devil and a stereotypical pirate. Possesses an immortal body thanks to a Star Soul Jewel created by Daitanix, and is an expert warrior. Zahab's left hand is missing as a result of the battle sustained with the first generation GingaRed 3,000 years ago having replaced it with a cannon integrated hook. As consequence, Zahab has a grudge against those who take the mantle of GingaRed, including Ryouma. Hearing the death of an underling doesn't seem to affect him, but deep inside he suffers in private. Eventually, having known of Shelinda's death, Zahab can't take it anymore and falls apart in grief. In the final battle, Zahab is forced to flee from his castle when it is burned by Bull Taurus. After losing the Earth Beast, Zahab took Shelinda's sword and died fighting the combined attacks of Hyuuga and Ryouma. Killed again by the Gingaman in the Galaxy Lights armor.
  • Pirate Prince Gregory (Kaizôku Ôji Guregorii) (Gingaman vs. MegaRanger): He is an old friend of Zahab's and came to Earth to revive the Barban, with the aid of Hizumina, Dr. Hinelar's second "daughter". He controlled a second Daitanix as well as a Daitanix same type-beast, Gillmadix. Eventually revived every Barban member along with some Majin. Killed by Galaxy Mega & Super Armor Shine Gingaiou.
  • Steerwoman Sherinda (Sōdashi Sherinda) (1-49, Gingaman vs. Megaranger): Second in command and Steerwoman of Barban. Cruel and selfish, she gets a scar from a battle with Hayate and swears revenge. Expert with the sword, she was defeated/killed in a final duel with Hayate. Her costume is shell themed. Killed again by the Gingaman in the Galaxy Lights armor.
  • Barreled Scholar Pucrates (Tarugakusha Bukuratesu) (1-48): He is called "Sensei" (Teacher) by Zahab and is the one who gave Zahab an immortal body. A stout little being with a barrel-shaped body, Pucrates lacks battle skills but makes up for it with his extensive knowledge. He helps his love Iliess to frame Budou and have him killed. When Iliess is defeated, her fellow Barban members, having discovered that she and Pucrates arranged Budou's death, plot to steal her power to revive Daitanix, Pucrates tries to stop them but is attacked by an enraged Zahab. He barely escapes with his own life and maddened by the hatred to Zahab, hatched a plot to destroy him, eventually forcing Hyuuga to work for him. However, he is killed by Shelinda before he can see his revenge fulfilled. Shelinda kills him because of his betrayal against the Barban.
  • The Four Barban Generals (1-49, Gingaman vs. Megaranger): Four of strongest Majins in Zahab's four armies.
    • Gun General Sambash (Jūtō Sanbasshu) (1-12, 18, Gingaman vs. Megaranger): A straightforward gunman, Sambash is the first of the four Barban Generals to try to revive Daitanix and fight the Gingaman. He carries a pistol and fancies himself something of a lone biker. His Majin are biker bug-themed. He kills himself by driving his motorcycle off of a cliff in a blaze of glory when he uses up his final chance to defeat the new Gingamen. Sambash is also BullBlack's rival, responsible for sealing the BullBlack in the deception of the location of the Galaxy Lights. Killed again by the Gingaman in the Galaxy Lights armor.
    • Sword General Budou (Kenshō Budō) (1-24, Gingaman vs. Megaranger): A calm swordsman who is the second general of the Barban, Budou has a mostly white and blue outfit with manta ray-like wings as a partial cape behind him. His majin are marine animal traditional Japan-themed. He has a samurai sword (Girasame) and a blue face with a black and white version of his horizon emblem on his head. Budou has a strong sense of honor and loyalty that even Zahab recognizes: "Sometimes you can't tell what he is thinking, but he won't betray me". Well mannered Budou always thanked his fallen majin, who called him "My General". He takes over the search for the Galaxy Lights in order to revive Daitanix. When the Lights are finally found, Budou sends his most powerful servant (Dotoumusha) to retrieve them. But Illiess has her own soldier, Medoumedou, pose as Budou and deceive Dotoumusha into absorbing the power of the Lights, betraying him. Budou is locked up after being setup as a traitor (no doubt Illiess blabbed to Zahab while Medoumedou donned his form) only to be released by Yamimaru and Onimaru, who reveal to him that Medoumedou (and ultimately Illiess) has framed him. Budou gets his revenge by killing Medoumedou and dies soon after in a duel against Super Armor Shine GingaRed. Killed again by the Gingaman in the Galaxy Lights armor.
    • Spectral Empress Iliess (Yōtei Iriesu) (1-34, Gingaman vs. Megaranger) / Evil Empress Iliess (Jatei Iriesu) (34): Iliess is an Egyptian-themed spiteful and ambitious sorceress. She always demanded monetary compensation upon a successful plan. She arranged, along her beloved Pucrates ,Budou's death, so she could become the new active general. She was growing impatient for her chance to revive Daitanix. Having succeeded, in becoming the new general, she intended to revive Daitanix through sorcery. Of course, her plots and her Majin fail to do so. Her Majin are based around mythology. After her younger brother Desphias is destroyed, Iliess eventually takes matters into her own hands, absorbing the dead souls of her tribe to fight the Gingamen in a powerful chimera-like second form called Evil Empress Iliess. She is killed by Super Armor Shine Gingioh, after getting thrashed by GingaRhinos, GingaPhoenix and Bull Taurus. When Pucrates attempted to revive her, Zahab, who knew/learned that she was the one who framed Budou, stopped Pucrates and used her soul gem to prevent Ditanix's body from rotting. Killed again by the Gingaman in the Galaxy Lights armor.
    • Destruction King Battobas (Haō Battobasu) (1-49, Gingaman vs. Megaranger): Battobas is the strongest warrior among the four generals and a weapons specialist as well. He is considered by Zahab "his right arm" which suggests a longer relationship between them than the rest of the generals. His Majin are based on weapons, although some of them are also machine-based. Battobas sometimes would let Biznella plot the plan and Battobas would provide the majin and Yartots. He is the last to fight the Gingaman, with the mission to get enough energy to fully revive Daitanix. Battobas succeeded, but upon Daitanix's destruction, he is later sent to find the Earth Beast and mature it fully with a Extreme Growth Extract, but ended up being eaten alive by the monster. Killed again by the Gingaman in the Galaxy Lights armor.
  • Dark Merchant Biznella (Bizunera) (29-47) / Majin Biznella (Majin Bizunera) (47): Biznella is the evil weapon merchant who captured three Starbeasts, which he made into cyborgs and sold to Barban. But after his merchandise teams up with the Gingamen, Biznella was recruited into Barban under the service of Battobas who hed been acquainted with him previously. During the attempts to find the Earth Beast, Biznella was dunked into the Extreme Growth Extact by accident and mutated into Majin Biznella. Betrayed/enlarged by Battobas, Biznella was ironically killed by the vengeful GingaRhinos & GingaPhoenix with help from Super Armor Shine Gingaioh.
  • Seamen Yartots (Suifu Yātotto): Barban's grunts, the Yartots are orange with striped shorts, wielding sabers. When fighting, they would only say "Yaatotto!!" but can speak when talking to their superiors.

[edit] Majin

The Majin are criminals and mercernaries who, drawn by the evil energy of Daitanix, are recruited by Barban. They are divided in four armies depending on their home galaxy and the strongest member of each is appointed General. These four armies tend to fight with each other, being this one of the reasons of their defeat against Gingaman 3,000 years ago. Knowing this, Zahab decided that this time round the plans would be executed by one army at the time, avoiding inner conflicts. When defeated, the majin will draw a bottle (its design depends on the army the majin belongs to) containing Barba-X, a potion that enlarges them, but that also shortens their life, making Barba-X a last resort in battle.

[edit] Sambash Majin Gang

The Sambash Majin Gang are bug-based Majin that dress in leather, like biker punks. They're the first army to fight. Their primary objective is find a way to revive Daitanix. Their Baruba-X container is a liquor bottle.

  • Kolshizer (Korushizaa) (2, 19, Gingaman vs. Megaranger): A scorpion Majin that looks like a biker punk. Holshizer was hired to capture the Star Beasts, but failed. Kolshizer wields a pistol and is the first to be killed by the GingaLeon's flaming breath. Kolshizer is later seen as one of the Majin who was there when BullBlack's brother was killed. [edit] Names/Puns

[edit] Gingaman

Both Hyuuga and Ryouma's names are homeages to the anime Tenkuu Senki Shurato. In the anime, Ryouma has the elemental power of "fire".

[edit] Starbeasts

Gingaioh's name can be translated as "Silver Armor King".

[edit] Trivia

  • Gingaiou is the first primary robot since Change Robo in Dengeki Sentai Changeman that does not have a special cockpit for the combination.
  • Gingaman vs. Megaranger is the first crossover since JAKQ vs. Goranger to take place after both series had ended.
  • Originally, Gingaman was the name of a comedic monster team from Fiveman.

  • Kei Mizutani auditioned the year before Denji Sentai Megaranger for the Shibolena role and then auditioned this season for Illies but was offered a sexier role.
  • Teruaki Ogawa, who played the role of Hyuuga, was an earlier sentai star as he played NinjaRed/Sasuke of the 1994 sentai series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.
  • The singer of the Gingaman theme is listed as "Ryou Kisao". Ryou Kisao is actually a pseudonym of the famous singer Masato Shimon. A theory on why he changed his name may have to do with his retirement in 1993 (five years before Gingaman).
  • The first episodes title takes a line from both the opening theme from the series and from the Gingaman role call , while the final episode's title takes a line from the Ending theme to the series.
