Seekonk River

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seekonk River is a river about 5 miles long formed by the widened Blackstone River at Pawtucket Falls in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The Seekonk River joins the Providence River at Providence, Rhode Island; it is the most northerly point of Narragansett Bay tidewater.

Most historical scholars agree that the name is derived from two Native American words, sucki (meaning black) and honc (meaning goose).
