I have removed most of this article (everything but the lead) as copyright violation. See CNN and AP for the original news reports. There are possibly some odd sentences that are original, but large blocks were pasted in and I would recommend resetting the editing to make sure that the article is in the clear legally. - BT 13:57, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I just put some of the new text in and got a clear paste from Somalinet. I have reverted back to my previous cut down version. I appreciate that you are pretty much alone editing this article but pasting in news articles and then tweaking the wording is very questionable. If you actually wrote some of the text from scratch, please add those parts back in. I'll drop a note at WP:AFR to let people know that this article has been started. I have removed the following paragraph:

Hussein Mohamed Farrah a naturalized US citizen, former member of the United States Marine Corps and the son of Mohamed Farrah Aidid currently controls southern areas of Mogadishu and prepares not to cede any control to the Islamic Court Union.[1]

The BBC link is from 2002, and it is pretty clear that the warlords are out at this point. More up to date info would be appreciated. - BT 03:37, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Whaere exactly does the name "Second Battle of Mogadishu" come from? There has been huge amounts of fighting in Mogadishu both before and after the so-called "Battle of Mogadishu"– distinguished in Western journalism because it involved Americans. I don't see any particular historical connection between the recent fighting and the "Battle of Mogadishu"– has this term been used in other sources? If we're looking for something more descriptive, we could go with something like 2006 Mogadishu violence or Islamic Courts Union capture of Mogadishu.--Pharos 08:52, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

I also agree with the name change, "Second Battle of Mogadishu" just sounds incorrect to anyone who has been following Somalia's history (for any length in time) outside of the USA's intervention in the 90's 65.92.218.5 20:18, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
