Sebastien Chabal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sébastien Chabal (born 8 December 1977 in Valence) is a French rugby union footballer who plays at number eight in the back row of the scrum for Sale Sharks and France.

Chabal joined Sale from French club Bourgoin, making his debut against the Leicester Tigers in 2004. He is renowned for his hard-hitting and aggressive style of play, but a short temper has led to disciplinary problems, most recently on 26 February 2006, when he received a red card for stamping on Wasps player Lawrence Dallaglio. Chabal has acquired cult status at Sale, enjoying the nickname "Seabass", and also affectionately by English rugby fans as the "homme de grotte".
