Sean Tully is a fictional character played by Antony Cotton on the soap opera Coronation Street.

[edit] Info

Sean became a regular character on the show in late 2004. He moved in with Todd Grimshaw's family, becoming close to Todd's mother Eileen but annoying her other son Jason. When Eileen and Jason fell out over Todd moving away, Eileen asked Sean to move out for a while so she could mend her relationship with Jason. He has now moved back in. Sean is one of few the characters to break the fourth wall on the program, once referring to the ITV television program Hell's Kitchen, which once featured former Corrie star Amanda Barrie.

Sean is a stereotypical gay character. He has yet to have a long-term relationship onscreen. He recently had a very brief relationship with veterinarian Tim White. Sean works in the Underworld factory, where he has made friends with Janice Battersby, Fiz Brown and Kelly Crabtree. His boss Danny's nickname for him is "Mincemeat".

Kelly once tried to seduce Sean even though she knew he was gay. When he defended himself against her physical advances, he ended up giving her a bruise. Kelly was angry at him and lost him his job by claiming the bruise was from some kind of assault. Sean has since got his job back and forgiven Kelly, and they have remained friends.

In recent storylines, he has met up with his 'father' after he left with another woman when Sean was 10. This is a storyline that strikes hard with gay men, as relationships with fathers can often become very difficult after coming out.

On Fathers' Day 2006, Brian (his 'father') revealed that he was not Sean's biological father, and that Sean's mother was in fact having an affair with another man, who does not know that Sean exists.

He has now taken an extra job working in the Rovers Return pub.

Sean's latest key storyline involved Violet Wilson and Jamie Baldwin, when he became convinced Jamie was in love with him, only to find he was actually in love with his step-mum Frankie Baldwin.
