Sean Singletary (born September 9, 1985 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is the starting point guard for the University of Virginia Cavaliers basketball team. He is entering his junior year. Singletary had a very good first year, but exploded onto the ACC first team, averaging nearly 20 points a game. His top game in the 2005-2006 season came when he put up 35 points against Gonzaga; outdueling Adam Morrison.

It should prove to be an exciting year upcoming for Singletary and his Virginia teammates. Firstly, the team is moving from their old home at University Hall across the street to the John Paul Jones Arena. Also, with many of their best players now juniors and seniors, it should be a much better season in Charlottesville than in recent years.

[edit] First year

As a freshman, he was the only player on the team to start every game during the 2004-2005 season, and was selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman Team. He averaged 10.5 points per game, as well as 3.9 assists per contest in his rookie campaign.

[edit] Second year

For his second year, he averaged 17.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game and was instrumental in the Cavaliers success for the 2005-2006 season, a team that managed to do much better than expected, winning seven conference games after being picked to finish last in the ACC before the season. Singletary was named to the First Team All-ACC squad for the season, the first Virginia player to earn this honor since Bryant Stith in 1992.
