[edit] Craftsman Truck Series career
Murphy made his debut at Martinsville Speedway in late 2004 driving for Green Light. He ran a solid race at the short track, qualifying 19th and finishing 22nd. The deal gave Murphy an opportunity to race for the rest of the year with the team, which encompassed three races. At the next race at Phoenix, Murphy finished 24th, but also led two laps. At Homestead-Miami, Murphy led ten laps due to pit strategy before his engine expired.
Murphy ran seven races in 2005, once again all for Green Light. His best finish was 13th at Atlanta, and he also had two other top-20 finishes. One of those top-20s were at California Speedway, where he had his first career lead lap finish. Also, at Atlanta, Murphy led his only lap on the season. However, sponsorship did not materialize and after Michigan Speedway, Green Light found other drivers to drive the car for the rest of the year.
Murphy is once again running a part-time schedule for Green Light. His best finish so far is a twentieth at Daytona International Speedway, and has two other starts. If all goes according to plan, Murphy will likely race the truck 3-5 more times in 2006.
