Sean Lawrence born in Johannesburg, South Africa on June 17th, 1971, is a South African contemporary painter, specialising in impressionist oil paintings and sketches of modern images ranging from motorsport to celebrities.

Sean’s talent for drawing and painting was discovered already when he was a young boy he started winning art competitions. From then on he attended private classes rounding off his art education in his teenage years by studying under South African artist Nicholas Veliotes.

Sean grew up surrounded by motor sport with his grandfather - G.A.V. Lawrence - being a keen racer in his 1938 Jaguar SS100, a well-known founding member and Chairman of the Sports Car Club of South Africa. His father competed in various rallies and time trials in his Alfa Berlina picking up some silverware along the way.

Many Saturdays were spent working with both of them along Kyalami’s pit lane or keenly watching from the grassy banks of Clubhouse Corner. This began a love and understanding for the sport which has over the years grown into a passion. Being born in SA and part Italian, his first heroes were South African Jody Scheckter and Ferrari teammate Gilles Villeneuve. Despite having followed Formula 1 for most of his life he only started painting original oils of automotive subjects in 2002.
