Sean Hopp was born in Oakland, California, in 1970. He moved around the States frequently throughout his childhood, and spent several years in Cleveland, Ohio. He currently lives and works in Chicago with his family.

Sean's paintings are created with a combination of oil, acrylic, charcoal, inks, and various bodily fluids, in a continuing experiment using modified traditional layer techniques. Sean claims to use both hands to paint, and prefers using his fingers and hands rather than brushes. He married in 1980.
