Sean Beavan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sean Beavan is a record producer/ mixer best known for his work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails. His production style is typically heavy, although he has been heavily influenced by Kenny Burrell and his unique approach to jazz guitar.

Beavan also plays in a band out of West Hollywood called "The Solid Gold Dancers," who play a blend of funk and power pop. Beavan, the group's bass player and backup vocalist, recruited friends from Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, and Stray Cats to play this semi-regular gig in W. Hollywood bars and lounges. The "Solid Gold Dancers have been put on permanent hiatus due to artistic costuming conflicts and "The energy just not being right". He is currently touring and recording with his wife, Juliette, in the band known as 8MM, which was named after the Nicolas Cage movie about the seedy underworld of snuff films. While Beavan himself has elected to stay behind the camera, he did enjoy a brief uncredited cameo as a drum technician in Rock Star. He is seen twice- once during the movie and a second time while outtakes are shown during the closing credits.

Beavan has been known for his acrimonious conflicts with musicians such as Simon Le Bon and Bob Geldof, who have been intensely critical of Beavan's style of production. Latin pop sensation Shakira is the latest name associated with Beavan's, who will have some free time when Chinese Democracy is released. He is also slated to produce and play the strings on the sophomore effort of Bedouin Soundclash. He is also an avid scrimshaw collector, whose price piece- the tusk of a baleen whale is pictured in the collage originally included with Alice in Chains "Jar of Flies" album.

After engineering Nine Inch Nails "The Downward Spiral" and mixing countless NIN remixes including "Closer to God", Sean mixed and co-produced Marilyn Manson's "Antichrist Superstar."
