Seamus Browne

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seamus Browne is an up-and-coming striker currently playing for Derry City F.C.'s under-21s.

Hailing from the Shantallow in Derry, Browne was invited to England to play for Rochdale A.F.C. as a youth. It was here where he fostered a new friendship with fellow Shantallow man, next-door neighbour, and current Derry City F.C. player Patrick McCourt. Failing to make the breakthrough at Rochdale A.F.C., Browne returned home to play for Finn Harps where he showcased his immense array of skills and talent despite the club being relegated. Following the disappointment, Browne was snapped up his home club Derry City F.C. and was immediately singled out as being a huge prospect. Browne has spent his time mostly in the under-21 team, proving influential in their success. This was shown particularly by his two-goal performance against Shelbourne F.C.'s under-21s in the Dr. Tony O'Neill Perpetual Trophy second round. However, Browne has also appeared for the senior team on occasion, being introduced as a late substitute to make his debut against Drogheda United F.C. towards the end of the 2006 season.
