[edit] Season Twelve Summary:
The season premiere aired on September 16, 2006.
All of the remaining cast members of season eleven (with the exception of Michael McDonald and Bobby Lee), were under contract to appear in Season Twelve. However, both decided to renew their contracts, so the only cast members who left the show between seasons eleven and twelve were Stephnie Weir (who left midway through Season Eleven), Frank Caliendo (who chose not to renew his contract), and Daniele Gaither (who was let go by FOX executives).
The featured performers from Season Eleven, Frank Caeti and Nicole Randall Johnson, were promoted to repertory status. MadTv added a new sketch called "Weekly news with Toby".
[edit] Opening Montage
The twelfth season features a brand-new title sequence showing action shots of the performers as they prepare for the show. The screen divides into several different live action shots. When the music starts, the announcer says "It's MADtv! Starring...". When the last cast castmember is announced, the screen turns to the whole cast in a live action shot as the music stops and the phrase "you are now watching mad tv!" is said. The sequence also features a new announcer.
