Seán MacManus

Seán MacManus (often incorrectly spelt McManus) (born Blacklion, County Cavan, Republic of Ireland) is an Irish Sinn Féin politician[1].

MacManus is based in the working class Maugheraboy area of Sligo Town, County Sligo, Ireland. MacManus was member of the Sligo Anti-H-Block Committee in the 1980's.

MacManus became Mayor of Sligo, the first Sinn Fein Mayor in the Republic of Ireland since the beginning of the conflict in 1969[2]. He was also involved in the negotiations leading to the Good Friday Agreement. MacManus son Chris is also a Local Councillor within Sligo Borough Council, and a member of Sinn Féin's national executive, the Ard Comhairle[3][4].
