'Scrutilege' Stemmed from the original words: 'Scrutinize' and 'Sortilege' The purpose of such a merger, in my opinion of such use of the pretense is to allow a more effective speech impact. When the word 'scrutilege' is spoken in sentence, the use of scrutinize is still implied but less abrasive. With the use of 'Sortilege', the inclination of this word is for closure and gives purpose to the combination of the stem words.
