Scrubber (disambiguation)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Scrubber may refer to:
- A rebreather breathing set part which absorbs the carbon dioxide which the individual using the breathing set breathes out. See rebreather.
- A scrubber, an industrial pollution control device, usually installed on the exhaust chimneys of large furnaces, but may also be used on any number of other air exhaust systems.
- A derogatory term in the United Kingdom popular during the late 1980s and 1990s for someone either sexually promiscuous and/or exhibiting behaviour which may be perceived as stereotypical of people from the 'lower classes', grazingly described to be "As common as muck". Such usage has been somewhat superseded by the terms slapper and chav, and for a short time during the late 1990s by minger. The term 'scrubber' was at times incorrectly treated as synonymous with scuffer - a derogatory term sometimes used to describe police officers.
