Scrimmage
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A scrimmage is a type of practice for a sports team in which the team faces "real game" situations to improve their skills. Normally in this type of practice the team competes against itself.
As a verb, scrimmage means to move from one place to the next. i.e. "Let's scrimmage over to the store for some bread."

A "scrimmage" in many countries is also known as a futbol (soccer) game in which the players do not know each other prior to playing. Players often circulate among known fields in their area and ask to join in a game that they find particularly fitting for their skill level / availability, etc. A scrimmage is also known, in this context, as a "pick-up game."
