ScreenSelect

ScreenSelect was a DVD rental service based in the United Kingdom. Originally a stand-alone service, it became the trading name of Video Island Entertainment when the two companies merged in 2004.
ScreenSelect offered unlimited DVD rentals for a fixed fee each month. Depending on what monthly price is paid the subscriber may have one, two or three discs out at one time. It currently has the largest selection of movies compared to other DVD rental services. There are over 60,000 titles to choose from and advertises as having every UK DVD. Video games can also be rented. There are games available to rent for Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox and Xbox 360.
Screenselect merged with Lovefilm in April 2006 and has now changed its name to Lovefilm. It has also changed some of its prices. [1]

But why the transformation and name change?
Well, ScreenSelect merged with LOVEFiLM a good while ago now. Yes, two market-leading and fiercely-competitive rivals coming together to form another legendary double-act in the mould of Butch & Sundance, Thelma & Louise, Cannon & Ball...
Just without the headlong leap to our deaths. Or the big curly hair. Hopefully.
And ever since that merger, we've been beavering away behind the scenes to create a best of both worlds situation.
We chose to go with the LOVEFiLM brand because the words 'love' and 'film' seemed to better sum us up these days. And as we're making great strides into Europe too, the LOVEFiLM name's just that bit easier to translate and understand.
So please don't worry. Nobody panic. We haven't sold out. It's still us, the cheery film-lovin' folk who've been with you since the start. And in October, we'll unveil the new, souped-up service underneath its bright, buffed-up and gleaming new skin.
We're proud that we haven't increased our prices since we began. And despite Royal Mail putting theirs up by 14% in the last five years, we're keeping our future price-rise to an absolute minimum.
From November on, if you have a standard 2-disc unlimited package you'll only be charged an extra 50p per month – an increase of only 4%. If you're on the standard 3-disc unlimited package, it'll be an extra £1 per month. If you're on the standard 1-disc unlimited package, there's no price rise at all.
If you rent games as well as DVDs, the following supplements will also apply: £1 per month on standard 1-disc unlimited; £2 per month on standard 2-disc unlimited; £3 per month on standard 3-disc unlimited packages.
But you can take advantage of the current prices - and enjoy a tasty discount of up to 20% in the process - by prepaying your next 12 months now. Just use the prepay option on the My Account page at ScreenSelect.co.uk.
By the way, your credit card statement will start to reflect the 'LOVEFiLM' name later in September. And what do I have to do again?
Not a thing. Just keep on using the service the same way you usually do, and all the extra meaty goodness will happen around you...
