[edit] Plot synopsis
The episode begins as Omi faces Jack in a Xiaolin Showdown for the Gills of Hamachi, a new Shen Gong Wu that enables the user to breathe underwater. Jack uses the Jetbootsu to walk up an icy cliff impossible for climbing, to get the Gills. Omi, thinking he is beaten, slams his fist against the cliff in frustration, and notices cracks working their way up the mountain. He uses the Orb of Tornami to shoot water into the cracks, causing them to burst open and the mountain to crumble. Jack is on top of the mountain and is about to win when the cracks reach him and he falls off the mountain. Omi jumps up on the pieces of ice to the Gills of Hamachi, and he is victorious. Then they see a beautiful girl half frozen in ice. They decide that Raimundo should bring her to shore (or rather, Rai tests the freezing water with his toe and says someone with a lot of body fat should go) when Clay pushes him in. As Raimundo kicks and chops through the water he reaches the frozen girl. When Rai karate-style chops the ice off, it reveals a fin/tail. She wakes up and thanks him, causing Raimundo to blush. The Warriors befriend the mermaid called Dyris. She begins to tell them about herself, but then a small iceberg crashes & crumbles, revealing an ancient warrior inside. He is quite big, dressed in a brown ragged cloak, has a red blinded eye, and holds a specially equipped staff. It's got three saber-toothed tiger shaped teeth arranged as a claw at one end, and a barrel that's actually a claw at the other. He sees Dyris and instantly launches 4 yellow golf ball-like things toward her. Clay uses the Glove of Jisaku to draw them toward him. Dyris quickly tells him that they explode, so Kimiko uses the Ju-Ju Flytrap to stop them from getting Clay. The man's ready to fight but suddenly one of Jack's Jack-Bots grabs him and brings him away, while Jack introduces himself. When Jack is gone, the monks ask Dyris about the man. The Xiaolin Warriors find out she’s being chased by the ancient warrior called Klofange.
When asked why he doesn't go after another mermaid, she sadly states she's the only one left. She explains last time (unknown when or how long ago) she was almost caught, but thankfuly the ice floe above them crashed down and froze both of them together. The monks offer to bring her back to the temple for safety, and she gladly agrees. Dojo offers a ride, but she says that she can't leave the water. Omi gets an idea...and they soon fly off in Dojo’s mouth, now full of water from the Orb of Tornami. Omi assures her that Dojo brushes his teeth everyday. At Jack's house, when Jack offers to team up to look for Shen Gong Wu, Klofange squeezes him tightly using the "barrel claw" on his stick, saying he isn't interested in any "Shen Gong Wu", only Dyris the mermaid. Jack, gasping from the experience in "the claw," mentions that he might know where to find Dyris.
Meanwhile, Kimiko is angry at the boys and Dyris so she suspects something and goes to the small pool, recently made for the mermaid, to settle things. Kimiko starts to talk about the way Dyris "hypnotizes" the boys, but Dyris simply says it's what girls are supposed to do, and it's easy too, if you have beauty. She flatters Kimiko by telling her she's even beautiful, so Kimiko decides to try it herself. Kimiko uses it to make Omi clean Dojo's litterbox when it is actually her turn, and finds it quite useful. The two girls have a laugh as Klofange watches them through a telescope. At night, the monks all crash into each other at a 4-way road, each wondering what the others are doing there. Suddenly, Jack Spicer is seen making a full on attack on the temple with his robots. Then the monks see Klofange running along the roof to Dyris' pool. All the boys argue who should save her, and Kimiko is left to fight the robots. While running, Klofange traps Omi in a net, ties up Rai, and arrives at the pool, to be confronted by Clay. He grabs Clay in his "barrel claw" and throws him toward a statue. The statue splits in half and Clay uses Seismic Kick-Earth to throw the half back. Klofange simply catches it and throws it back, putting Clay down for the count. Klofange slowly advances on the pool, just as Omi, Rai, Kimiko, Jack, and Wuya arrive on the scene. That is when the ancient warrior realizes she is gone.
The monks ask how that is possible, since she can't leave the water. Klofange says it's because she's actually a monster!!! Jack, as puzzled as the rest, realizes that if Dyris is a monster, and Klofange is trying to stop her...then Klofange is a good guy!!! Later, Klofange explains about Dyris' plan to flood the world and rule it undersea. She has "hypnotized" countless men into helping her, and when out of water, she turns into her true form, a monster. When in the vault, they find out that Dyris has stolen the Sheng Gong Wu she needs to flood the world. Klofange shakes his head sadly when he hears all the info Dyris tricked the boys into giving her. Even Dojo was tricked into telling her where the new Shen Gong Wu, the "Black Beetle" was, a Sheng Gong Wu that allows the user to withstand extreme heat, and even fire and lava. The monks, along with Dojo & Klofange, set off to find it before Dyris does. Omi uses the Gills of Hamachi to go underwater to find it. He suddenly grows fins, gills, and his skin turns green, much to Kimiko's disgust. He dives down, and sees a sunken ship. He grabs the Black Beetle and is about to swim to the surface when he sees Dyris. She takes advantage of his gullibility, and takes the Gills of Hamachi from him. Omi, now unable to breathe underwater, drops the Beetle and swims for the far-away surface, while Dyris laughs and swims away. Omi knows that he can't make it, then all of a sudden Omi is taken into the Silver Manta Ray, with his friends piloting it. Kimiko reprimands Omi for losing the Gills, then suddenly, the Silver Manta Ray is under attack, by Jack, and his new Shark-bots. Omi goes down to find Dyris, while Jack attackes in his squid sub, along with his Shark-bots. Clay suddenly has an idea, and uses the Glove of Jisaku and the Reversing Mirror to move the Shark-bots towards Jack's sub. Jack ejects just as the Sharks tear the submarine to pieces. Meanwhile, Omi finds Dyris, and takes the Gills back, despite being tricked again. Suddenly...the Black Beetle! Both put their hands on it, and that means a XIAOLIN SHOWDOWN!!! Omi sets the showdown as "get the other person's Shen Gong Wu," but then he adds to have it on dry land. Klofange rebukes Omi for leading her out of the water, since that is when she would turn into a monster. Omi asks how bad could she be, and hears a loud noise. He turns around and gets his answer. Dyris is no longer a beautiful mermaid, but now a hideous monster, 1000 times bigger than Omi. Omi puts on the Gills of Hamachi and tries to take a deep breath, and quickly learns it is impossible to breathe air while wearing the Gills. Dyris holds Omi like a fish as he squirms around, desperately looking at the pool of water below. Suddenly, without warning, Omi takes off the Gills, and uses his power with water to make the water below jump up in a wave and hit Dyris, shocking her and turning her back into a mermaid. Omi leaps forward, grabs the Fist of Tebigong, and kisses Dyris. Dyris, unhappy about her loss, attempts to attack. Klofange restrains her with a rope from his staff as the entire ice floe starts to collapse. Klofange urges the warriors to leave, and they do, with reluctance. As the monks drive away in the Silver Manta Ray, the ice floe collapses. Dyris & Klofange, trapped in the collapsing ice, are once again, bound together, in ice. Meanwhile, Jack is on his broken squid sub, bobbing on the surface. Wuya, tired of his whining, leaves, much to his dismay. Suddenly, the monks pull up, offering to take Jack back. He thanks them with tears in his eyes as he climbs on one of the wings. Then Clay's lasso ties around him, and Jack is dragged by the Silver Manta Ray all the way back.
