Scream Bloody Gore is the first album released by Death in 1987. It bears little resemblance to the far more technical and melodic later works of the band. Chuck Schuldiner also plays the bass on this record as well as playing guitar and doing vocals.

This album is also hailed by fans as one of the first actual examples of Death Metal along with Seven Churches by Possessed which preceeded it by two years, although the music on Scream Bloody Gore is more distinctive and akin to what Death Metal would become in its later developement.
