Scott P. Brown

Senator Scott P. Brown, a Republican, represents the Norfolk County, Massachusetts, and Middlesex districts in the Massachusetts State Senate.
After incumbent Democrat Cheryl Jacques resigned, Senator Brown was elected to the Massachusetts State Senate in a special election on March 2, 2004 in a close race against a top Jacques aide, Angus McQuilken. Brown was re-elected on November 2, 2004, and again on November 7, 2006. Previously, Senator Brown served three terms in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from the 9th Norfolk District. Prior to his 1998 election to the House, he served as a Wrentham Selectman for three years and an assessor for three years before that.
Brown is a graduate of Wakefield High School, Tufts University, and Boston College Law School. He is a practicing attorney and a small business owner. He is a 26-year member of the Massachusetts National Guard, where he currently holds the rank of Major in the Judge Advocate General's Corps.
A member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Brown is also involved in the Wrentham Lions Club, United Chamber of Commerce, North Attleboro/Plainville Chamber of Commerce, Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce, and USA Triathlon Federation. He serves as a Board Member of the 495/MetroWest Corridor Partnership Inc., and serves on the Hockamock YMCA Board of Incorporators.
In the legislature, Senator Brown serves on Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure; Education; Election Laws; Financial Services; Health Care Financing and Veterans & Federal Affairs Committees. He is also a member of the Veterans’ Caucus, Children’s Caucus, Charles River Caucus and the Suburban Legislative Caucus.
Senator Brown received the “Public Servant of the Year” Award from the United Chamber of Commerce for his leadership in reforming the state’s sex offender laws and protecting the rights of victims. Senator Brown is an outspoken advocate for victims of sexual abuse and a tireless supporter of veterans’ causes.
Senator Brown is married to WCVB-TV reporter Gail Huff; their two daughters are American Idol contestant Ayla Brown and Arianna Brown. Brown and his family live in Wrentham, Massachusetts.
