[edit] Fact
- Hairston comes from the biggest major league baseball family. Five members of the family, spread over three generations, have played in the majors to set a record, beating out the four members of the Boone family (Ray, Bob, Bret and Aaron) over three generations. He is the brother of Jerry Hairston, Jr., the son of Jerry Hairston, the nephew of Johnny Hairston, and the grandson of Sammy Hairston, a former Negro Leaguer who later became one of the first black players in Chicago White Sox history.
