The Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s, also known as the Scotland Sevens, is a rugby union sevens tournament, part of the IRB Sevens World Series, held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, Scotland. It will have the honour of being the last event in each season's IRB Sevens. The hosting contract between the International Rugby Board, which operates the IRB Sevens, and the Scottish Rugby Union runs from 2007 through 2011.[1]
The first tournament will be held June 2-3, 2007, with Emirates Airline as the title sponsor. The event will also include a Festival of Rugby celebrating all of the abbreviated versions of rugby union, with club-level competition in tag rugby, touch rugby and full-contact sevens.[2]
