Scotia Gas Networks Plc is a holding company of Scotland Gas Networks Plc and Southern Gas Networks Plc based in Perth, Scotland.
[edit] History
The company was formed following National Grid plc decision to sell six of its local gas distribution zones in order to raise funds for expansion. A consortium made up of Scottish and Southern Energy plc, Borealis Infrastructure and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan purchased the the Scottish, Southern and South Eastern gas networks all of which fitted best with Scottish & Southern Energy's electrical distribution areas as it would provide corporate and management services to the new company. It delivers gas to 5.6 million customers in an area covering all of Scotland and in England from Milton Keynes to Dover in the east and Lyme Regis in the west, including London boroughs to the south of the River Thames.
