The Scorpion is a comic book series published by Atlas/Seaboard Comics that only lasted three issues in the 1970s.

The protagonist for the first two issues was an immortal in the 1930's whose current identity is Moro Frost. The main character was changed in the third issue to David Harper, a 1970s super hero.

[edit] Publication history

The first issue of The Scorpion was published with a cover date of February, 1975. This issue was written and drawn exclusively by Howard Chaykin.

The series' problems began with the second issue. A schedule with deadlines that were too narrow for his pacing caused Chaykin to seek help in finishing on time. Among those that helped with the second issue are Bernie Wrightson, Michael Kaluta, Walt Simonson and Ed Davis.

Citing lack of control over his creation Chaykin quit and the third issue was published starring a character set in the 1970's. This character had no relation to the first other than the name. This was also the series' final issue.

[edit] Dominic Fortune

Not finished with his creation, Chaykin used the Scorpion as the basis for Dominic Fortune. The adventures of this character are published by Marvel Comics.
