The Reman Warbird Scimitar was a fictional starship in the Star Trek movie Star Trek: Nemesis, the ship was of Reman origin and was far superior to the Starfleet flagship the Enterprise-E, and Romulan Valdore type warbirds.
The Scimitar was constructed at a secret base on Remus to be the personal flagship of Shinzon. Using the Scimitar, one of the heaviest armed and armored starships of the era, Shinzon and his army invaded Romulus to liberate the Remans from Romulan oppression.

[edit] Technological specifications
[edit] Thalaron weapon
The Scimitar possessed a thalaron radiation weapon, which was considered merely theoretical by Federation scientists. The Scimitar itself was designed to produce large amounts of the deadly radiation, enough to eradicate all life on a planet.
[edit] Weapons systems
As well as possessing the Thalaron weapon the Scimitar also possesses conventional ship to ship offensive weapons, the Scimitar has onboard 52 disruptor banks and 27 photon torpedo launchers.
[edit] Shields
The Scimitar’s shields were much more advanced than that of the Enterprise-E or the Valdore-type ships which where present at the conflict. The Scimitar employed two layers of shielding primary regenerative shields and secondary shields. The Scimitar’s regenerative shielding could quickly analyze an attacking weapon's frequency and then remodulate the shield freqency, decreasing shield power depletion.
[edit] Cloaking device
One of the Scimitars greatest assets was its advanced cloaking device. Not only could the Scimitar fire while the cloaking device was engaged, but it did not give off tachyon emissions or residual antiprotons, like other Klingon or Romulan cloaking devices, thus making it completely undetectable to contemporary sensor technology.
[edit] Attack fliers
The Scimitar had onboard several squadrons of Scorpion class attack fliers, located in its shuttle bay. The fliers were armed with at least one forward disruptor cannon, and were capable of high speeds and were highly maneuverable. These fliers had two occupants, a pilot and a gunner who controlled the disruptor cannon.
Jean-Luc Picard and Data stole a Scorpion-class fighter from the Scimitar’s shuttlebay and used it to escape from the Scimitar. Jean-Luc at first found it hard to maneuver the fighter, but managed to succesfully traverse the Scimitar’s corridors and escape by smashing through a window in Shinzon's representive chamber, flying into space. The Enterprise-E locked on and beamed the Scorpion fighter onboard into the shuttle bay.
[edit] Tractor beam
The Scimitar was equipped with at least one tractor beam, which Shinzon ordered to be put on the stolen Scorpion flier, however the tractor beam narrowly missed as the Enterprise-E beamed the flier out of space.
[edit] Destruction
Shinzon intended to use the Scimitar to destroy Earth as the prelude to a Romulan invasion. It engaged the Enterprise-E in the Bassen Rift. The Enterprise, with help from two Romulan warships, disabled the Scimitar’s cloaking device, exhausting its photon torpedoes and almost all of its phaser banks in the battle. The Enterprise then rammed the Scimitar, disabling most of its primary conventional weapons systems, but the Scimitar and its main weapon remained operational. Both Romulan Warbirds were disabled in the conflict.
The fatally wounded Shinzon ordered the activation and firing of the thalaron weapon at the Enterprise, which would kill all occupants on the ship. Immediately before it fired, Lt. Commander Data discharged his phaser into the thalaron activation matrix, destroying the weapon and the ship.
Despite its destruction, the Scimitar may well have been the most powerful and deadliest warship developed by any of the main Alpha Quadrant powers.
[edit] Creation
The Scimitar was created by production illustrator John Eaves, John also created the Valdore type Warbirds seen the Star Trek: Nemesis.
