Schwester Selma

Schwester ("sister" or "nurse") Selma (1884- 1984, an Israeli nurse, served the Sha’arei Tzedek (Gates of Righteousness) Medical Center in Jerusalem as head nurse from its inception in 1914 for 48 years. The hospital's sole trained nurse, she had trained in Hamburg's Heinrich Heine Hospital; and established the School of Nursing there in 1934.

Time Magazine referred to her as "... something of an angel ..."
