Schwarze Szene

The term Schwarze Szene (English dark culture, Portuguese cultura dark, Spanish cultura oscura) is an umbrella term, used in Germany since the early 1990s to describe a summary of several subcultures. Here the Schwarze Szene is not to be understood as closed subculture, but as "environment", a scene, in which humans of similar interests and preferences (e.g. dark music) move.

Subcultures within the "Schwarze Szene":

darkwave subculture (the early wave and goth movement) goth subculture (incl. "neogoths" or "cybergoths") elektro subculture (e.g. genres like aggrotech or dark electro)

parts of the neofolk and martial subculture parts of the industrial subculture parts of the metal subculture (e.g. genres like gothic metal)

Dark Culture (www.darkculture.net) is also the name of a music and entertainment webzine relating to various dark genres.
