The School of Water Business (都立水商! Toritsu Mizusho!) is a manga series created by Hikaru Murozumi and drawn by Shinobu Inokuma, the author of Salad Days. It is set in a fictional trade-school in Kabuki-cho, perhaps the raunchiest red-light district in Tokyo.
The students learn to work as Hostesses, Hosts, "Managers" (actually waiters), "Geibaa" (think TV) and, finally, "soapgirls." That is, the trades which deal with the intake and outflow of fluids for profit. The School of Water Business is on the ecchi side of things, but has shown less skin by a large margin than some of the "softer" translated series, including everything by Ken Akamatsu.[citation needed] Mostly it's a romantic comedy series, although one quite serious arc has appeared and there is a possible murder in the backstory. The main pull in the series is character; you really want to see what happens to the regulars.
