Schofield Pass (Colorado)

Schofield Pass, or Schofield Pass Rd., is located near Crested Butte CO and is one of the most popular ways to get to Snowmass Mountain.
Closed but for 1-2 months in late summer due to snow or mud.
4WD truck parking is available in the "town" of Crystal, and 4WD-high clearance trucks can continue 2 miles (with a left at the fork) to the trailhead at 9,700'. Accessible only by high clearance 4WD trucks. Do not attempt driving this unless experienced on rough 4WD roads. Many people have died attempting to drove over Schofield Pass.
Two miles from the trailhead you reach the spectacular Geneva Lake.
