Schmitten is a municipality in the district of Albula, in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland.

In the 14th and 15th cneturies, the area was settled from Davos. Therefore, the municipality is traditionally German-speaking. Despite the neighboring Romansch-speaking villages, the percentage of Romansch speakers in Schmitten was always well under 10%.
