Schlage
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Schlage is a lock manufacturer founded in 1920 by Walter Schlage in San Francisco. Schlage is one of the most popular brands of consumer locks in the United States. Schlage also produces a high-security lock line that is compatible with its standard line, called Primus. In addition to the usual grooves cut into the key, there is side milling which, when the Primus key is inserted into the Primus lock, causes side pins to rotate a certain amount to allow the lock to open. A Primus key can be cut to open a standard Schlage lock, but a standard Schlage key cannot open a Primus lock.
In 1974, Schlage became part of the Ingersoll Rand company.
