Schick (razors)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Schick, a brand of Energizer Holdings, (marketed under the Wilkinson Sword brand in Europe) is a well known manufacturer of safety razors. While a distant second to the Gillette company globally, Schick is the top selling brand of safety razors and blades in Japan.
Some of Schick's more popular products are as follows:
- Schick Quattro: a four bladed razor for men
- Quattro Midnight
- Quattro Titanium: includes a titanium coating on the blades for reduced irritation
- Schick Quattro for Women: A modified version of the Quattro with an extra comfort strip.
- Schick Quattro Power: A motorized version of the Quattro, that is supposed to stimulate the hair to stand up, thus reducing shave time. It is powered by a single AAA battery.
- Schick Intuition: A women's shaving system, that lathers and shaves at the same time.
- Schick XTreme 3: A three blade men's shaving razor. In 2005 a disposable version of the XTreme 3 was introduced, most likely to compete with the Gillette Sensor 3 disposable.
- Schick Slim Twin: Two blade disposable razors for men and women.
In response to the arms race between Schick and Gillette, a new variation of technological singularity has ironically been proposed[1]. After the invention of the safety razor, it took 75 years for the second blade to be added, then only 15 for the third, and one for the fourth and fifth. Using static analysis, this perfectly matches a hyperbolic curve which reaches infinity in 2015, predicting therefore that by then razors will have an infinite number of blades.
