Fansubs are unauthorized subtitlings by fans. Thus this image can only ever be fair use, unless somebody makes a GDFL (or other free use) anime film that gets subtitles by fans. --GunnarRene 20:09, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Not that I know of. We could make one, but we would first need to make the work, then make it popular enough that fans would subtitle it wihtout our encouragement. It also smacks of manufacturing the news/facts. One important aspects of many fan-subs are that they are un-licenced, made without the consent of the creator, if not directly opposed by the creator before the shows in question get licenced. So in this case, we have a strong case for using a fair use image, since varying degrees of copyright violation is an important characteristic, I think we should show a genuine example of fan subbing.
