[edit] Me

Hey there, nice to meet you

Hi, I'm Will. I'm 15 years old, and I come from a quaint little town in a quaint little country. My birthday's on March 3, and I was born in 1991, (which makes me a piscean sheep).

I'm a native speaker of British English. I can also understand a little bit of French and German - what they teach you at GCSE level. I wouldn't mind learning more languages however.

Romantically, I'm heterosexual, and I am currently dating someone.

I'm also left-handed. To quote my friend "We die nine years before everyone else, but at least we're creative and artistic!"

Personality wise, I'm quite funny, always got a joke or witty comeback. Nasty people at school prepare you for it. My sense of humour is rather off-color. I'm also full of lots of cultural references. Talk to me for twenty minutes, and you might mistake me for an episode of Family Guy. But be warned, I am rather sarcastic.

I'm also a large fan of music - mainly rock and its various subgenres, but a bit of pop, and even some comedy songs. The full list can be seen here, and I'll endeavour to update it at least once a week. Currently, my song of the moment is: Pink Floyd's "In the Flesh?", from The Wall.

When it comes to technology, I'm a massive nerd. I am proficient in XHTML and CSS, and can program in PHP. I'm available on Google Talk as tintower@gmail.com, and Windows Live Messenger as sceptre@tintower.co.uk. I also own a wesite and have a MySpace. My email provider is Google Mail, my internet service provider is Orange (formerly Wanadoo) (at a meagre 512kbps), and I contribute using Mozilla Firefox, but sometimes use Opera or Internet Explorer if I can't use Firefox. My computer should be runing dual boot with Windows XP and Fedora Core, but a hardware problem prevents this at this current moment in time.

[edit] Wikipedia

From January 2006 to August 2006 I was an administrator of Wikipedia, although I have temporarily given up such powers as a preventive measure, and as such, I will not be using any administrative powers until I get them back, However, you are free to look at my logs. When I feel the time is right to regain such powers, which will not be until March 2007, I will open up such a request at Requests for adminship.

I have over 13000 edits. My wikiholic score is 8886.642381102454, as of revision 93356213. I also run a little bot, which does tasks too tedious for the human hand.

I'm also one for helping people. I'm a member of Esperanza, Concordia, something that doesn't exist, the Kindness Campaign, the Welcoming Committee and the Counter Terrorism Vandalism Unit. I'm also a member of the user scripts, userbox, and LOST Wikiprojects, and also try to improve Calderdale and motorway related articles.

Vibrissae (whiskers) of a Patagonian fox

A close-up of the face of a Culpeo, clearly showing its vibrissae, or whiskers. Vibrissae are specialized hairs that grow around the nostrils or other parts of the face in most mammals. They offer an advantage to animals that do not always have sight to rely on to navigate, or to find food, or when the usefulness of non-tactile senses is limited.

Automating tasks on Wikipedia

Uploading hundreds of files or changing thousands of pages can be tedious. We allow limited automation unless it interferes with normal systems operations. You always can grab your favorite scripting language and write a bot, but there's no need to reinvent the wheel: take a look at PyWikipediaBot, a quite complex automation framework for Wikipedia. If you are more into Perl, libwww-perl is a very useful library for automating web tasks. If you have tested your bot and intend to run it over a longer period of time, please get in touch with the developers first (preferably using the wikitech-l mailing list). We then can register your bot, so it can be hidden from the list of recent changes.
