[edit] Image:Cripple Creek , Colorado , 1957 , Kodachrome by Chalmers Butterfield.jpg
Hi! Are you really the person who took this photograph? (Just checking.) —xyzzyn 14:22, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
That photograph was taken by my father, Chalmers Butterfield. He left me many old Kodachromes, and after I acquired a Nikon film scanner and began transferring images to my computer, I thought I just had to share these with others, instead of just keeping them all boxed away in the closet. I hope you enjoyed it.
- Yes, I did. It is a very beautiful picture. (However, the reason I asked was because one of the templates you used for the licence information says ‘I, the author…’, but the vast majority of contributors here are far too young to have taken pictures in 1957 and many pick the wrong templates for image description pages. In this case the distinction seems immaterial, though.) —xyzzyn 01:09, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Great Pictures
You've been Dugg. I've just been going through your contributions, and I must say, the photos your Dad took are amazing. I love looking at them! (Corby 07:44, 13 August 2006 (UTC))

- Corby, It really warms my heart that you enjoyed the photos and that you linked the London photo to the digg website so that many others could enjoy it. Thanks again.

[edit] Your photos
Hi there! I'm obviously not the only person who is appreciative of all the historic photos you have uploaded, but can I make a small request? When you upload them, perhaps you could include a bit more detail in the summary (not the filename). All of them just say something like "Personal photograph". As you said, it was your father that took them so I understand that you may not have a detailed history or even an exact time when the photo was taken, but as this is an encyclopedia, we need as much information as possible to ensure they are accurate. Anyway, thanks again for your contributions, and if you do find the time to add more comments to the summary, that would be much appreciated. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 17:29, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi Diliff! Thanks for your interest and comments. Six months ago both Wikipedia and my film scanner were new to me; and I was a bit overwhelmed at the time. I recall looking at a few Wikipedia photos by others and seeing "personal photograph by..." in the summary, and I thought that that was the normal procedure. Putting more detail in the filename (instead of the summary) was the result of someone vandalizing the summary section of my Bora Bora shot, and of my realizing that filenames are more difficult to alter. But, I agree, there could be more description in the summary section. Best regards
