[edit] Spam/Unnecessary links

I've re-added the spam tag; please don't remove it without discussing your reason for so here first. If you aren't clear what spam means, refer to Wikipedia:Spam. Let's give a chance for everyone to voice their opinions in this section first, before making any more major edits to the external links section. Finiteyoda 23:15, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

I removed the breeder link from this article. We don't post links to breeders, it's considered advertisement, which isn't allowed. Lachatdelarue (talk) 14:03, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

Since the spam tag is still on the external links, I've investigated what links we've had, and have been added recently. It'd be great if people could comment if they feel the link should stay or be removed, with your reason(s) why. --Finiteyoda 09:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

This appears to be a legitimate organization of breeders (not a breeder site itself), but is a bit scant on information. The image collection is so-so, and the FAQ is still being constructed. I'm not sure how much value this link really adds. --Finiteyoda 09:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
This link seems perfectly OK with me. --Finiteyoda 09:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
  • SavannahCat.com Oldest and largest group of Savannah Cat breeders in the world.
This is Patrick Kelley's site, and seems like a purely commercial site to me. The history section is taken straight from savannahbreedsection.org. Breeders pay $20/mo. to be listed. Numerous, large image links to their online store on the entry page. And the links page is mostly Google ads, many of which aren't Savannah related. There are only four testimonials, and they're all from breeders. This external link was added by an anonymous IP. Other than helping people find a breeder, I fail to see the value this link adds, and vote to remove it. --Finiteyoda 09:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Another organization of breeders, like savannahbreedsection.org. They seem to have a lot of information, including scans of several print articles, and a fair number of pictures. Their breeder list also requires paid inclusion, meaning the more people visit their site, probably the more money they make, something to keep in mind. --Finiteyoda 09:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
I think I've heard this forum may have good info for potential Savannah owners and breeders, but you have to register and be approved to see, so I didn't check. Maybe someone can investigate and report, otherwise I'd be inclined to remove the link since it requires registration, meaning it won't be useful for many people. --Finiteyoda 09:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Like SIMBA and savannahbreedsection.org, is a breeder organization. They don't seem to sell anything directly, other than membership to their organization. Image gallery, but "generations of savannahs" has a fair amount of images, of all generations. Not so much information, but a lot of links to (mostly) informative pages. --Finiteyoda 09:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
I think this group is also operated by Patrick Kelley (or savannahcat.com at least). It has numerous huge image links to savannahcat.com's store, which makes the whole page look like a big advertisement, but the actual content is pretty up-to-date (making it a great resource for anyone in the market to buy a kitten). It also doesn't require registration. I'd vote to keep. --Finiteyoda 09:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Temperament

Can someone add information on the cat's temperment to the article? Seems to be a hole in the behaviour area, unless that's typically not a problem with cats. Or something. -- Consumed Crustacean | Talk | 05:53, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)

I've added a bit to the temperament section, using what sources I could find. Let me know if you think we need more. --Finiteyoda 06:35, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
