In baseball, a save opportunity (SVOP) is when a relief pitcher enters the game ahead in runs, and the tying run is on deck, on base, or at bat. The pitcher gets a save opportunity when he has the chance to win the game, and gain a save.

The stat itself is useful for determining the efficiency of a closer in save situations.
