Savage Poetry, released in 1995 (see 1995 in music), is the first album by the power metal band Edguy. the album was self-produced and released initially as a demo. The album was written and recorded when the band members were all around 16 years old, so the songwriting is rather different from Edguy's later releases. When the band were offered the chance to have the album commercially released, the knocked back the offer because they wanted to record a proper professional debut that reflected their improvement in songwriting and playing ability.
The album was re-recorded by the band in the year 2000 under the name The Savage Poetry. The tracks were slightly re-arranged and the original version of the album was featured on a second disc.
The album cover of Savage Poetry is the last released to feature the heavily-skewed Edguy logo. When re-recorded and re-released in 2000, a new album cover was issued, featuring artwork comparable to Edguy's previous album, Theater of Salvation (1999).
