[edit] Early Life

Saunders was born in New York. His mother was a schizophrenic and the identity of his father has never been known to him. At an early age he was placed in foster care and raised in several foster homes most of them Christian. He showed an early aptitude for art however this proclivity was never nurtured and in fact discouraged. At the age of 17, after he supposedly threatened the life of his elderly foster mother he was evicted. He stayed with the family of a friend and latter his half brother until he graduated from high school. At age 19, he was on his own.

[edit] 20's

He spent his twenties in and out of Community college and working jobs he didn't like. He was a goth and a punk. Latter, he became a raver. He organized underground dance parties in old theaters around Hollywood and the forest and deserts surrounding Los Angeles.

In 1998 with a friend he began taking welding classes at Santa Monica College. This hobby would develop into a strong interest with metal, three dimensional artwork and designer furniture.

[edit] Basswerks

In 2000, with the rave scene going strong and lack of places to hold parties a problem, he and three other friends moved into a run down commercial space on the border of the Mid-City and Baldwin Hills districts of Los Angeles. They named the space Basswerks in reference to the Glasswerks and Iron Works businesses on the same street. The space became a well-known underground party location in the heart of Los Angeles. As time went on, the space ceased to have these types of gatherings and evolved into a studio and occasional art gallery.

After being laid off from his job as a internet programmer, Saunders, completed his junior college work and transferred to California State University, Long Beach where he specialized in Bronze casting. In 2005 he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture.
