[edit] Preparation
- Sausages are cooked either by shallow frying or grilling. This process can take between 10 and 20 minutes.

- Just before the end of the sausage cooking time, the bread or toast may be buttered.
- The sausages are cooked and removed from the cooking device.
- The sausages may then be placed on the bread or toast. Often the sausages are sliced in half first, but not always.
- Additional ingredients are added, such as tomato ketchup or brown sauce.
- Bread / Toast is closed by placing one piece on top of the other.
- The sandwich is served, usually on a plate with a cup of tea.
