Sauro class destroyer

The Sauro Class were agroup of destroyers built for the Italian Navy in the late 1920's. All these ships fought in World War II. They were based in the Red Sea Italian Colony of Eritrea and were sunk during the East African Campaign in 1941.
These ships were an enlarged version of the Sella class destroyer, with 6 rather than 4 torpedo tubes , a 60cm increase in beam, a new Bridge structure.

- 2 - 40mm pom pom anti-aircraft guns
- 2 - 13.2 mm machine guns
- 6 - 533mm torpedo tubes (2x3)
- 52 Mines
- Crew: 156

These ships formed the 3rd Squdrilla and were based in the Red Sea
- Cesare Battisti - named after Cesare Battisti, built by Odero, Sestri Ponente, completed 13 April 1927, Scuttled 3 April 1941
- Daniele Manin - named after Daniele Manin, built by CNQ Fiume, completed 1 March 1927, Sunk 3 April 1941 by Bombing
- Francesco Nullo - named after Francesco Nullo, built by CNQ Fiume, completed 15 April 1927, lost 21 October 1940, damaged by HMS Kimberley and run aground on Harmi island
- Nazario Sauro - named after Nazario Sauro, built by Odero, Sestri Ponente, Completed 23 september 1926, Sunk 3 April 1941 by Bombing
