Sauherad is a municipality in the county of Telemark, Norway.

The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Sauar (Norse Sauðar), since the first church was built here. The name is the plural form of sauðr m 'spring, issue of water'.
The meaning of the combination Sauherad (Norse Sauðaherað) is 'the district (herað) of Sauðar'.
