Saue is a town near Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Administratively it constitutes a separate urban municipality in Harju County.

The territory of Saue is 3.50 km² and population about 5600. Closest centres are Tallinn - 18 km, Keila - 7 km, Saku - 7 km and Laagri - 7 km.

  • 1920 - Garden suburb started to arise,
  • 1960 - Saue garden suburb was united with Tallinn,
  • 1973 - Saue garden suburb was renamed to Saue village,
  • 1993 - Saue village was renamed to Saue town,
  • 1994 - Saue was separated from Tallinn.

Saue is on a very favourable position because of its location near Tallinn. It lures a lot of medium rich people, who like to live in a small town close to the nature and at the same close to all kinds of entertainment, jobs etc. that Tallinn has to offer.

93 % of the people living in Saue are ethnic Estonians. Average age of people is 35. Over the years census of the population has shown, that the population is slowly growing - 1959 there was 1088 people living in Saue, 1970 it was 1979, in year 1979 it was 3293, in 1989 the population was 4395, in 1995 it was 4492 and 2000 it was 4996.

In Saue there is 1.30 km² of private plots (average size of a plot is about 700 m²) - 1015 plots, about 0.35 km² of communal buildings, garages etc., 0.25 km² of industrial areas, Streets and roads about 0.30 km² (there are 62 streets in Saue - about 21 kilometers), about 1.12 km² of forests, parks etc. and about 0.15 km² of fields.
