[edit] History & background
The Saturday Observer was launched in March 2005 and is distributed across all of Kent. It has no cover price and is distributed free of charge; with copies available from supermarkets, selected newsagents and garages. Unlike traditional free newspapers, the focus - as with sister title Kent on Sunday - remains on editorial content.
Its editor is Gary Wright; who has previously worked on national tabloid The People, regional press agency Kent News & Pictures, local TV news show Meridian Tonight and the Kent Messenger title the Kentish Express.
[edit] Content
The Saturday Observer is designed to provide an entertainment-led introduction to the weekend. Therefore it covers the top television shows, local celebrities, shopping and leisure, in addition to a back bone of hard news and sport.
Also included as a supplement is "Review", a pull-out title which includes restaurant reviews, TV and film reviews, and a property section.
