Sattal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sattal, meaning The Seven Lakes, is part of the lake district in India. Mostly it is a popular tourist spot. Travellers to the hill resort of Nainital occasionally head for both Bhimtal or Sattal.

Sattal lies to the north of the Indian capital Delhi and is only a few hour's rail journey away. Tourists often prefer to stay in outdoor camps. However travellers are warned that in the rainy season leeches are abundant and it is advisable to keep a packet of salt handy.

To get to Sattal one has to take a rail ticket till a place called Kathgodam and from there hire a taxi or a bus.
