Satoru Kobayashi (小林覚, born April 5, 1959) is a professional Go player.

Satoru Kobayashi is a professional Go player who plays for the Japanese Nihon-Kiin. His rank is 9 dan. He has two brothers who are also professionals. Chizu Kobayashi and Kenji Kobayashi. Satoru is known for his pincer style.

[edit] Suspension

In the beginning of 2001, Satoru was suspended. He had injured his Chunlan Cup opponent Ryu Shikun while he was drinking. After the incident, The Nihon-Kiin did not hesitate to suspend him. The suspension was shortened from a year to 8 months and Satoru was allowed to play in September. Satoru was said to be drunk when he smashed the cup into his face. Ryu Shikun's cheek was gashed.
